ACE Scholarships, the official UFA Program Manger, takes the security of our participating families and applicants very seriously. We are pleased to add two-factor authentication to our technology. Families now have the option to utilize the combination of SMS text confirmation alongside email to enhance security of their information!
SMS Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security method that requires two forms of identification to verify a user’s identity. It’s a type of multi-factor authentication (MFA) that’s often used to protect online accounts (for example: banking, credit card, shopping, email, etc.).
2FA is more secure than single-factor authentication, which only requires a password or passcode. While you may already use 2FA for your personal email account, banking account, or other accounts requiring the protection of sensitive information, 2FA can keep unauthorized users from accessing accounts or devices, even if your password has been accidentally shared or compromised. Should you choose not to use this feature, rest assured that we have followed the industry standard to keep your personal information protected – 2FA is simply another option for additional peace of mind.
Families may initiate this process by visiting their UFA login portal and selecting the “opt-in” button for two factor authentication. Upon choosing this option, families will receive a notification that will help finalize their selections and enact the process. Below are detailed instructions and screenshots to help you navigate the process.
