According to Utah Code 53F-6-4 definitions, a "Home-based scholarship student" means a student who:
1. is eligible to participate in public school, in kindergarten or grades 1 through 12;
2. is excused from enrollment in an LEA in accordance with Section 53G-6-204 to attend a home school;
3. and receives a benefit of scholarship funds.
"Home-based scholarship student" does not mean a home school student who does not receive a scholarship under the program.
UFA homeschooled scholarship students should be excused from enrollment in public schools by signing an affidavit with their local school district.
